The San Daniele Oasis is a small and young natural park located in the municipality of San Zenone degli Ezzelini, at the foot of the Mount Grappa massif, in the province of Treviso.

It is an environment rich in biodiversity and at the same time very sensitive, in fact in this park it is being renaturated, and in this area the plants and animals must absolutely not be disturbed, in order to allow the recovery of biological balance. Access to this oasis is regulated by various signs that you will find along the paths, so as not to cause any damage.

San Daniele Oasis

The San Daniele Oasis has always been crossed by small streams and surrounded by springs, typical of the alluvial environments of the Po-Venetian plain. A particularly sensitive context, which, however, until 1984 was exploited as a clay quarry, which supplied a company in the area with raw material.

In the 1990s, the area was abandoned and the opening of a landfill for special management waste, such as industrial sludge, is expected. Only after years of struggles by citizens and local administrations has the area been fully enhanced and restored to the beauty it deserved.

Today this environment is rich in biodiversity, but at the same time very sensitive, respect for the Regulation is essential if we want nature to re-appropriate what man has taken from it.

San Daniele Oasis

Monitoring by experts reveals a slow and continuous increase of animal and plant species. During the spring in the undergrowth we can admire an explosion of colored flowers, which almost seem to dance among the willows and the imposing poplars, and in some more hidden areas of the oasis we also find some species of orchid in the right period, such as the Neottia Ovata and Neottia Nidus-avis.

Furthermore, if we manage to stop for a moment among these plants, we may notice the rich and varied fauna of this wonderful natural oasis, which it jealously guards despite its small size.

San Daniele Oasis

This small park constitutes a passage and communication route between the Brenta River and the Piave River, in an articulated and complex system of fresh water courses, fed by the karst reservoirs of Monte Grappa. What are you waiting for, do not miss the opportunity to go for a walk with the whole family to the San Daniele Oasis, so as to fully appreciate its vitality.
