In this chapter we discuss one of the most beautiful lakes in the province of Vicenza, nestled between the green hills of the Berici Hills, Fimon lake.

The Fimon Lake is one of the most beautiful and interesting naturalistic places in the Berici Hills. It is, in particular, a 1.5 km long lake basin fed by underground springs, whose history dates back to the Bronze Age.

It is located in the municipality of Arcugnano in the province of Vicenza, a few minutes by car from the wonderful historic center of Vicenza. Historic center also called "the city of Palladio", which thanks to its many late Renaissance works was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Fimon Lake

In addition to the great landscape value, its importance is linked to the unique habitat, with the presence of flora and fauna typical of wetlands. This aspect is captured by walking or cycling along the 5 km educational trail that goes around the lake, through willows, poplars, reeds and delicate water lilies.

The lake preserves around its banks excursions in a very interesting and characteristic environment, especially for ornithology enthusiasts, in fact it represents a fundamental stopping point for migratory birds.

The best time to discover this authentic treasure goes from spring to late autumn, thus passing from spring blooms to the play of light in the autumn mists. Tip: being practically on the outskirts of the city of Vicenza, and if you are a lover of silence and solitude, avoid the spring and summer holidays and Sundays afternoons, because you will come across a slightly irritating crowd. In any case, the route is very clear, suitable for anyone, even for wheelchair users.
