In this chapter we discuss a little-known and truly unique place, do not miss the opportunity to go to the Santa Croce lake.

The Santa Croce lake is nestled in a sunny basin between the Cansiglio forest and the Dolomites, recognized in 2009 by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Located south of the province of Belluno and on the border with that of Treviso, it is the perfect place to spend a quiet day with your family or friends, on the green lawns of its northern shore, which thanks to the afternoon wind, offers refreshment on the hottest summer days.

Ideal half for lovers of sports or outdoor activities, its rich area today offers many possibilities, including dozens of kilometers of cross-country and downhill slopes, a boundless network of paths, cycle paths and climbing gyms.

The Santa Croce lake

The activities practiced on the Santa Croce lake are Kitesurfing and Windsurfing, perhaps little known, but certainly very suggestive and spectacular, the purpose is to use the wind as an engine, to be towed through the waves of the lake. Gliding on the water driven by the wind guarantees a good dose of adrenaline, strong waves ensure fun and entertainment, and the suggestive landscape of the area conveys serenity.

This lake is characterized by an ideal afternoon thermal wind for these activities, blowing from south to north throughout the afternoon, with an intensity ranging from 5 to 10 m / s. It is generally present from spring to autumn, but with greater force in the spring months.

The Santa Croce lake

On the shores of Santa Croce lake we find the Oasis of Sbarai, which extends for almost 30 hectares in the municipality of Farra d’Alpago. It is one of the main naturalistic sites in the province of Belluno, an ideal habitat for the wintering of many species of birds. A curious wetland to be discovered, linked to the variation of the lake's water levels.
