The Bellunesi Dolomites National Park is a protected natural area of Veneto with over 31,000 hectares of land of an intimate and wild beauty, an ideal destination for those who love to immerse themselves in nature.

Established in 1988, the park is located in the province of Belluno, between the river Cismon in the west and the river Piave in the east and is surrounded by other wonderful protected areas, such as the Natural Park of the Carnic Prealps, the Paneveggio and Pale Natural Park of San Martino.

The park is among the most varied and interesting conformations of the area, both at a structural and stratigraphic level, in fact most of the territory develops on sedimentary rocks. But there are small exceptions, such as in the Valle del Mis and Valle Imperina, an important area that represents the geological border of the Dolomites, and where very ancient rocks of metamorphic origin emerge.

These rocks are formed within the earth's crust, by a series of mineralogical and structural alterations, which affect various types of rocks.

Spiz di Mezzodì - Gruppo Mezzodì – Pramper

Today walking through this mountainous massif we can admire large and deep valleys and rocky walls, alternating with dark ravines and impending spurs, between large plateaus where the karst nature of the rocks has left the development of an underground scenario made of tunnels, halls, cracks, abysses , which penetrate the bowels of the earth. The Bellunesi Dolomites National Park is characterized by a great variety of morphological landscapes, often with distinctive and unique characteristics, modeled by glaciers and karst.

If you like excursions, the territory offers 52 CAI paths and is also crossed by the "High Way of the Dolomites", in particular from No. 1, No. 2 and minimally from No. 3, as well as some stages of the "Walk" of the Dolomites ", a long ring-shaped itinerary that in 30 stages penetrates the most impassable valleys of the province of Belluno.

The Park includes the mountain groups of the Feltre Alps, the Monti del Sole, the Schiara, the Talvèna, the Prampèr and the Spiz di Mezzodì. The territory, with the exception of some high-altitude karst areas, is extremely rich in water resources such as watercourses, swamps and springs that support the biological wealth of the Park.

It is a high quality area, in fact the Bellunesi Dolomites National Park is also known for the wide range of typical products made in the valleys of this incredible park. Often threatened by industrialization and globalization, these products are the most precious treasure of this environment, boasting a long tradition of production and preserving the unique flavors of these mountains.

In particular, agri-food products constitute a perfect extract of the binomial man-nature. The gastronomic tradition of the park has always been linked to wild and semi-wild breeding of cattle mainly, transforming meat, cured meats and cheeses into unique products.
