In this chapter we discuss a scenic route that you should not do without, also for the simplicity of the trip, the Piz Boè Excursion.

The Piz Boè Excursion is one of those paths that you have to do sooner or later in life; it is panoramic and suggestive, it is located in the heart of the Dolomites and does not present great difficulties. The Piz Boè, with its 3,152 meters, is the highest peak of the Sasso Pordoi, a peak consisting of a large plateau and which extends between the provinces of Belluno, Bolzano and Trento.

The Piz Boè Excursion

The majestic Sella Group is positioned between the valleys of Gardena and Badia and, thanks to its circular shape, it can be circumnavigated through the four famous passes, Pordoi, Sella, Campolongo and Gardena, by bike, motorbike or car.

The Piz Boè Excursion

Leave your car in the large parking lot of the Pordoi pass and go up with the cable car to Rifugio Maria, at 2,950 meters. From here our pleasant walk begins, the panorama is breathtaking, moreover, even from this refuge, you can see the main peaks, such as Marmolada, Pelmo, Civetta, Sassolungo and many others.

You go down in altitude and, in about 15 minutes, you reach Forcella Pordoi, at 2,848 meters, a fundamental crossroads for those who climb on foot or then want to go down through the scree to the car.

The Piz Boè Excursion

Subsequently, at first take the flat path CAI 627 to the next junction, where you take the path CAI 638 which leads to the top of PIz Boè in about 1.15 min. In the last part of the route we find short sections equipped with metal cable, nothing really complicated, but it is right to pay a little attention, especially if wet. We recommend a calm pace to enjoy the wonderful landscape that will surround you.
