At the center of the district we find Campo San Fantin, which overlooks the Renaissance church of the same name and the La Fenice Theater, the main opera house in Venezia.

In the nineteenth century, this theater was the site of numerous world premieres, such as the works of Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti and Giuseppe Verdi. Great exponents of the twentieth century passed here are Igor Stravinskij, Benjamin Britten, Sergej Prokofiev, Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono, Mauricio Kagel, Luca Mosca, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Adriano Guarnieri and Claudio Ambrosini.

Now, despite having been destroyed by two fires, it is beautifully restored and represents the seat of important opera, symphonic seasons and the International Festival of Contemporary Music.

The important and prestigious reputation of the Italian theater does not only originate from its immense beauty, but above all from the capacity of a thousand seats, from impeccable acoustics and from an orchestra and choir of the highest level.

Each year, it brings a large local and international audience together, offering over one hundred opera performances, renowned symphonic seasons, dance performances and classical music concerts, appointing the best international conductors.
