Located in the small town of Maser in the province of Treviso, Villa Barbaro is one of the most successful examples of Palladian villa. Around 1557, the artist designed this residence for the patrons Daniele and Marcantonio Barbaro, experts in architecture and classical art lovers, transforming the old medieval palace into a splendid country house in harmony with the study of the arts and intellectual contemplation.

To achieve this ideal of perfection and beauty, the Barbarian undoubtedly chose one of the best out there, in fact Palladio had proved that he had successfully managed to integrate Roman classicism with the functionality of the Venetian warehouse. In the central part there are four Ionic columns that support the decorated pediment and in the tympanum an enormous eagle to represent the family crest and patriarchal dignity.

Its interior is divided into two rooms due to the slope of the land, the ground floor, with the rather low ceiling, was used for agricultural use, and the raised noble floor was the space dedicated to the owners, who from the back towards the hill , leads directly to access to the secret garden.

In the various rooms, you can appreciate the works performed by the painter Paolo Veronese, considered one of the most extraordinary fresco cycles of the 16th century Veneto.

The energy and peculiarity of the illusionistic space that overlaps the Palladian one have caused some hostility to fall between the architect and the painter, so much so that it is not even mentioned in the captions of the table of the "Four Books" dedicated to the villa.
