In this chapter we talk about the cities and characteristic places of the lower Padova area, a territory rich in stories and legends.

The Lower Padova is one of the most fascinating areas of the Veneto region, enhanced by grandiose fortified cities, rich in history and mysteries, and this particular charm owes it precisely to the perfect conservation of their walls, which almost seem to represent a sort of enchanted fortress.

Montagnana - The Lower Padova

Among the first emblematic monuments we find the Castle of Monselice, consisting of two palaces, which house a collection of medieval weapons, furniture, furnishings and tapestries among the richest in Europe.

The San Zeno in Montagnana Castle, which was probably founded by Ezzelino III by Romano in the thirteenth century, who after setting the city on fire, tried to rebuild it.

The fortification has a rectangular shape and consists of the imposing keep, almost 40 meters high called Ezzelino Tower and the courtyard protected by lookout towers.

The Abbey Cathedral of Santa Tecla in Este, built starting from 1690 on the remains of an ancient church destroyed by a ruinous earthquake, is located in the square of the same name and preserves inside the altar, the altarpiece by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and, in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament to the right of the presbytery, the "Triumph of the Eucharist, a Baroque masterpiece by Antonio Corradini.
