In this chapter we discuss a small, typical village in the Treviso hills, simple, welcoming and rich in resources, Combai.

The small village of Combai is perched on a completely hilly area at the foot of the Belluno Prealps and is a fraction of the municipality of Miane. It is immersed in chestnut woods, which are not native plants but were introduced in the Middle Ages for food purposes. They found an adequate microclimate and they gradually replaced the original oaks, so that today the Combai chestnut (Marrone del Combai), is recognized as an IGP brand.

Moreover, Verdiso is an autochthonous vineyard on the Treviso foothills, whose documented existence dates back to over two centuries ago. All this had been imposed on the settlers of the Abbey of Follina in 1788. This wine has straw-yellow color, with greenish reflections, has a soft and spicy odor and a dry and sour taste, so much so as to remember the unripe apple. For these characteristics it enters the composition of Prosecco D.O.C. and in the production of sparkling wines.
