In this chapter we discuss one of the municipalities located near the Montello, marked by very hard armed clashes, Giavera del Montello.
The municipality of Giavera del Montello houses one of the many British cemeteries that had risen in memory of the English allies who fell honorably during the war after having settled for a long time on the Montello, thus allowing the reorganization of Italian troops after the defeat of Caporetto.
"The enemy troops that occupied the surrounding woods immediately opened fire and many of our men fell so as not to rise again ..." (Norman Gladden in "Beyond the Piave")
