In this chapter we discuss one of the wonders of Vicenza and one of the most famous works by Andrea Palladio, Villa Angarano.
Villa Angarano is one of the Palladian wonders of the Vicenza area and is located north of Bassano del Grappa in the Contrà San Eusebio. The project, designed by architect Andrea Palladio around 1548 for the residence of his friend Giacomo Angarano, was only partially realized.
In fact, only the side wings belong to the project of the famous architect, the central body, however, is the work of Baldassare Longhena, who completed the building in the seventeenth century. The villa has been on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since 1996, along with other Palladian villas in the Veneto region. Do not miss the traditional Grape Festival of San Eusebio and its market inside the barn in mid-September.
