In this chapter we treat the pretty and peaceful Campese, located at the beginning of the green and amazing Valsugana Valley along the Brenta river.
All these restrictions led to the spread of the “smugglers”, who went out at night and crossed the thick woods, to distribute and sell tobacco in the surrounding territories until the Asiago plateau.
The various paths beaten by these men are called Tabacco Way “Alta Via del Tabacco”, they still exist and are easily walkable; there are several paths and are accessible from the road that runs along the Brenta river and that crosses the various towns and hamlets.
Some cultivation of tobacco still exists, especially in the area of Campese and, even the terracing, are still visible and used for local agriculture.
