In this chapter we discuss one of the most powerful buildings designed by architect Andrea Palladio, the Capitaniato Loggia
The Capitaniato Loggia, also called Loggia Bernarda, is one of the most powerful creations of Palladio. Started in August 1571, it is currently the city council and faces directly onto the central Signori Square. In his construction Andrea Palladio challenged himself, since in that same period he was already engaged in another building site of the same square, the Palladian Basilica, which began again in the forties.
The works of the Loggia stopped in 1572 and, to complete the project, Giovanni Antonio Fasolo was subsequently asked to paint the interior, and Lorenzo Rubini for the external decorations.
